You got to start somewhere

Or why I started blogging, despite the world going to hell and the internet dying.

Ever since I started to write code for a living - I’ll do an about me in the future, I wanted to write a tech/personal blog, but there was always something. Some obstacle, that was too big or too heavy to start. I wanted to write about programming, the tech I use, and the tech I care about, share knowledge, write about how I got started …

But no. If we are going to do this, then I need to create my own blog engine - an automatic system that would regularly read my code snippets, run automated tests, and email me the results. I was not going to be one of these “career blog” guys. I would be having a proper tech/programming blog. Updated. Well grounded. Reliable.

So, what changed?

First, the obvious. Eventually you have to admit the problems you are trying to solve are
holding you back. There was no blog. I never solved any of the mentioned issues, but I did miss out on posting some interesting topics/posts I would have been proud or embarrassed by today.

Wise man

Second, I got older. Not going into cliches, but your perspective changes with experience. For some this comes faster, for me it took some time. Regardless, I do not care about what-ifs, at least the ones I can not control or are outside of my focus. And there is much more focus on my end. I can stop myself going overboard.

And last but not least, I got encouraged by LLMs. Not that I condone AI slop - I firmly belive that if I want a person to read something I post, I have to be the one writing it. and an LLMs is no more a tool than a spell checker is. What happened is I could drop worrying about all the imaginary aspects of my writing. With so much text out there, and even more being generated, I can do this any way I want.

Here I am.
